Racing and Street Heads!

Our speciality is modifying your cylinder head for increased performance. Our biggest concern is working with you to give you the best head for your needs at the best price we can offer.  We offer our experience in both building and racing engines to help you decide what will work best with the style of driving or racing that you do.  We believe the foundation for any head starts with a thorough cleaning and pressure test to check for cracks.  From there the valvetrain components, machine work and level of porting can be done depending on your needs.

2.2/2.5L ChryCo Cylinder Heads- 8v

NEW!
We are introducing three package deals that allow you to quickly pick a standard combination.  From putting together a nicely rebuilt street motor to getting ready for a season of racing we have a head for you.  If you are not sure if one of these packages suits your needs contact us and we can work item by item to build the combination you want.  All prices are based

Modifications to all heads include:

The Power-Miser

This is our basic head, which includes our economy porting technique. We work primarily on the valve pocket, and smooth the runners slightly to provide a significant improvement for the budget minded.  The intake and exhaust runners are smoothed to a matte finish (smooth to touch) although some casting marks may remain. This head reuses all stock hardware (valves, springs, retainers) which are first checked for defects.  This head works well with mild performance mods to other parts of the engine. Stock manifolds can be used, but some improvement can be gained by using ported manifolds. Most gains will be noticed in mid-range torque and throttle response.  Essentially, this head is a great option to just having a machine shop "refresh" your head.

The Street-Fighter

Our intermediate head uses more advanced porting for even better air flow. We smooth valve pockets, completely smooth the runners, and even do some mild combustion chamber work to enhance flow. While this head reuses stock valves, we do modify the valves to work with our porting.  We also include new, improved valvesprings (up to .510 lift), which have spring pressures set to your specification (we know specs for most commonly used cams). This head works particularly well with stock or mild cams, and can really take advantage of ported manifolds. We recommend at least port matching manifolds for use with these heads (which you can do yourself, or we can take care of for you!), but bigger gains will be realized with ported manifolds.

The Weekend Warrior

This is the nicest head you can get with stock valve seats! For this head, we use 1mm oversize valves, and upgraded springs. We then open the seats to match the valves, work the bowls, blend and smooth the ports, and leave a nice smooth satin finish. We then work the combustion chambers to unshroud the valves and increase flow. Finally, we top it off by setting spring pressures to match your cam specs.  This is the perfect head for more advanced engine modifications. Ported manifolds are really necessary when using this head to get its full potential. It will work with anything from stock to S60 equivalent cams (we will match our setup and springs to your cam).

Information about Core Charges and acceptance
Core charges are: $100 for 287 or 782 casting (non-crossdrilled), $150 for crossdrilled. A limited number of cores are available if you cannot supply yours immediately. All cores MUST be returned within 30 days to receive full credit. Also, the head must pass a pressure test and have all valve gear (valves, springs, retainers, locks).
Any head sent to us (before or after the sale) which does not pass the pressure test will be charged an extra $50 (which is what we get charged for the testing). It will then also be the customer's responsibility to supply a good head or make alternate arrangements.
Please be careful with "junkyard" heads, as we have seen many (especially the 782 casting) which are cracked in the area of the lifter bores and spark plug recess at cylinder number three. Please check any head you send, as sometimes the cracks are visible. This will save you time and money.
